Getting Things Done, one of the bestsellers book written by David Allen. The full of book title is "Getting Things Dones, the art of stress-free productivity". This book describes an incredibly practical process that can help busy people regain control of their lives. It can help you be more successful. Even more important, it can help you have a happier life."
I think this book is not simply about getting things done but also about being appropriately engaged with your relation to Allah (God), friends, work, and our life. So, How to get it?
Getting control of your life with a five-step method for managing your workflow.
We (1) CAPTURE what has our attention; (2) CLARIFY what each item means and what to do about it; (3) ORGANIZE the result, which presents the options we (4) REFLECT on, which we then choose to (5) ENGAGE with.
These are not arbitrary or purely theoretical suggestions - they are what we all do. The good example for explaining this methodology is cooking for dinner with our friends.
"If you are planning to cook dinner for our family/friends, but you come home and find the kitchen a total mess, how do you get on top it?
First, you identify all the stuff that doesn't belong where it is, the way it is [CAPTURE]
Second, You then determine what to keep and what to throw away [CLARIFY]
Third, Then you put things where they need to go-back in the refrigerator, in the garbage, or in the sink [ORGANIZE]
Fourth, After that you check your receipe book, along with the ingredients and utensils you have [REFLECT]
Fifth, You get started by putting butter in the pan to start melting [ENGAGE]

CAPTURE is an important part to know what needs to be captured and how to do that most effectively so we can process it appropriately. The capture tools are like human body for sensing (touching, hearing, seeing, etc). There are several types of tools, both low and high technology, that can be used to collect your incompleteness, for instance: physical tray, writing paper and pads, digital and voice note taking, email and texting, technology integration.
Tips for Capturing:
- Minimizing the number of Capture location
- Empty the Capture Tools regularly. —> Emptying the contents does not mean that you have to finish what’s there; it just means that you have to decide more specifically what it is and what should be done with it. If it is still unfinished, organize it into your systems.
